test your limits challenge

what sounds like a very crazy mountainbike race was 'just' an technically easy course in the woods around offenburg. the race itself was very good organised and many top riders, appeared.
the first part of the race was an long uphill to the 'mooskopf'. from there an easy downhill to the valley where some breakhills strewn the way to the finish line.
with teammate damian perrin before the race.

what's up? 5 min. to go... damian still smiles.
i had quite good legs from beginning. i started fast for my conditions and found myself riding with the fastet woman esther süess. soon i had an according group of 5 guys from the top of the day, the mooskopf.
the crowd was great, never saw so many specators along the road! the good thing for me was to finish in front of esther süess. just some second. first time i could beat her. she is the european and swiss champion in marathon racing. but i should not compare with the women category...
in my fun categorie i got 5th. overall i was 33 (of almost 500 competitors).
quite happy and tired after 84 k's on the bike.

i lost half an hour rear of the winner urs huber. but just some k's before, my brother thomas was leading the race and he would have won... if he would not had a fall on his elbow. too bad for him! but he got 2nd and is in a really great shape! he'll win more important races, i am sure.
done! esther süess finished seconds behind me...
my other teammates had a good day as well! damian got 23. overall and catherine 7. in the womens categorie. congrats!

the experience racing in germany was a success and i loved the crowd, the atmosphere, the race and the weather. it was a perfect 15-25 degress during the race. a good weekend. bike means fun.
